The needle flame tester uses a needle burner of specified size (Φ0.9mm) to pass a specific gas (butane) to burn the test sample at a 45° angle in a regular and directional manner. The ignition hazard of a small flame caused by a fault condition inside the equipment is evaluated by observing whether the test sample ignites, the duration of burning, and the length of burning.
Application:
The needle flame tester is suitable for lighting, low-voltage electrical appliances, household appliances, machine tool appliances, motors, power tools, electronic instruments, electrical meters, electrical connectors, accessories and other electrical and electronic equipment and their parts and components research, production and quality inspection departments, and is also suitable for insulating materials, engineering plastics or other solid combustible materials industries.
NOTE:
If the test specimen drips molten material or has burning material during application of the flame, the burner may be tilted up to 45° from vertical to prevent material from dripping into the burner tube while maintaining a clearance of 8mm±1mm between the center of the top of the burner and the remainder of the test specimen, ignoring any strings or molten material.
